  • Simulation of the part shape by aluminium founded and machined control blocks. The control blocks are made with a flush of Omm and a gap of 5mm, controlled by Go/No Go pin.

Manufacturing a wheel arch checking fixture

  • Any aluminium founding structure is made from a polystyrene mould
  • Once the structure - in that case, the control blocks - is founded, it must be machined in order to get a smooth surface, suitable for a precise control
  • After the production and machining process, they are adjusted by CMM machine on the checking fixture

Description

Most of the car parts are controlled in their  vehicle position, in order to ensure a fitting and conforming in conditions as close as possible to their real mounting conditions. Yet, we usually recommend to control wheel arches upside down; indeed, the wheel arches fixations do not enable to fasten and control them in vehicle position in a repeatable way. By putting them upside down, the fixture can copy the surface of the part, thus making sure that they will not be deformed during their control.

Materials and tolerances

Our checking fixtures are produced in aluminium, the components submitted to wear-and-tear are produced in steel. Tolerances for RPS (fixation points) and dial indicator points: ±0.05mm. Tolerances for simulation blocks: ±0.1mm.

Minimum documentation: dimensional report of your checking fixture, 2D assembly drawing, assembly CAD.  Optional documentation: R&R report, user manual, stabilization certificate.
