Frequently asked questions

What is a dimensional checking fixture?

Mechanical assembly for the dimensional verification of mass-produced parts, with the aim of carrying out the same repetitive checks on part assemblies that have been aligned in exactly the same way, regardless of the person measuring. They are very used in industrial sectors such as the automotive, electrical household appliances, railways or pharmacy by parts and components production companies. They are also called gauges or jigs and are designed to check a determined part.

What is a positioning fixture or a positioner?

As its name shows, a positioning fixture is a fastening element enabling to position a part by aligning it with its isostatisms in a tridimensional machine (CMM). Contrary to a checking fixture, which also fastens the part in the same way, it does not have any type of control providing information about the part and allows an easy access for the tridimensional contact point to all the areas to be measured.

What is the deadline necessary for the preparation of the checking fixture design and its fabrication?

We usually need 3 weeks for the design and 4 weeks for the fabrication. This deadline may vary depending on how complex the project is. The project follow-up is done in the “Projects” section of Tecnonet.

Which packaging is used for Tecnomatrix products for the delivery?

Dimensional checking fixtures are sent in tailor-made wooden boxes. The 2D drawing, 3D, dimensional report and user manual (if requested) are sent through TecnoNet. Go/No Go gauges are delivered in cases stuffed with foam, to be protected during their transport.
Machined parts, depending on their type and size, are either sent in boxes or bubble-wrapped.

What languages are spoken in Tecnomatrix?

We can speak fluently English, Spanish, German, French and Catalan.

What difference is there between a checking fixture, a checking tool and a gauge?

There is absolutely no difference between these three terms. They all have the same meaning, though customers favour one term rather than the other. They refer as much to simple “Go/No Go” checking elements as to complex fastening systems with all types of controls. Some customers also call the latter “jigs”.

What do we need to prepare you a quotation?

The more information we have about the part to check, the best it is. We need technical specifications detailing the points to check, the specific requirements for the checking fixture (user manual, certificates, etc.), as well as a 2D and 3D plan of the part to check. You can send us all these elements through our customer portal, Tecnonet.

What is the validation process of a checking fixture?

The design of a checking fixture or a part to produce is only begun at the reception of the corresponding order.
Tecnomatrix engineering department makes the design according to the specifications detailed in the quotation, sent by Tecnonet to the customer, who can request modifications or validate the design at any time.

Can we make international sendings?

Tecnomatrix has a constantly expanding customers portfolio on the international market. Consequently, we work with various international transport companies, to be able to propose you the best solution to send your checking fixture.
