Lateral grille

As lateral grilles only have an ornamental function on the front panel, their shape can vary strongly from one version of car to the other. This also means that their specificities and fixations will also be affected by their aesthetic design. All these considerations must be taken into account when producing checking fixtures for lateral grilles: these parts are usually clipped on the bumper, and conformed by the bumper environment. Consequently, a checking fixture for a lateral grille must reproduce the part environment and fixation system to ensure that its measurement will be done in conditions as close to the fitting on the car as possible.

Our checking fixtures are produced in aluminium, the components submitted to wear-and-tear are produced in steel. Tolerances for RPS (fixation points) and dial indicator points: ±0.05mm. Tolerances for simulation blocks: ±0.1mm.

Minimum documentation: dimensional report of your checking fixture, 2D assembly drawing, assembly CAD. Optional documentation: R&R report, user manual, stabilization certificate.

The number of dial indicator points on lateral grilles fixtures vary according to our customers’ requirements. Yet, their number can be of more than 5 dial indicators control points. To reduce the measurement time of these points by 70%, use CAPTOR-S data acquisition system; for an optimum automated data acquisition process, complete it with CAPTOR-C.

  • Simulation of the fixation of the clips of the part by openable clipping systems. Each clipping system is opened and closed by a separate opening system: if the clips a part are detected as faulty, the operator will be able to detect easily which clip is NOK.
  • Control of the part deformation by 5 dial indicator points.
Checking fixture for triangle-shaped lateral grille
  • Aluminium base plate
  • Simulation of car environment by three aluminium blocks, two of which are mounted on rails to slide them against the part and away from it: this system enables to mount and dismount the part without deforming it.
  • Simulation of the fixations of the clips of the part by openable clipping systems activated by clamps
  • Conforming of the part by simulating the bumper shape and conforming elements on the lower area of the part.
  • Control of the part deformation by 6 dial indicator points.
